A Phenomenological Study of Experience of Ethical Problems in Nurse Students

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this research was to understand the structure of the lived experience of nurse students with ethical problems.
The research question was "What is the structure of the experience of nurse students with ethical problems?".
A purposive sample, was obtained from K Colleague in K City, consisting of 11 nurse students. The unstructured interview were carried out from the October 14, 1996 to October 23, 1996. They were audio-recorded and analyzed using Colonizer(1978) method.
The results obtained from data were as follows
From the raw data 130 descriptive statements were organized into 10 themes cluster and 2 categories. The categories of phenomena related to the ethical problems of nurse student were situation of ethical problems and the response of ethical problems.
1. The theme clusters comprising the category "situation of ethical problem" included unkindness and inappropriate information, ignorance of complain of a pain, treatment of inhuman, ignorance of principle, shift the responsibility on to another and argument, defective of a protective duty, and bureaucratize of the hospital.
2. The theme clusters comprising the category "response of ethical problem" included withdrawal, self-abandonment, and positive attitude.
